In the fall of 2007 Becoming August was formed when songwriter/guitar player Allen Higgins was looking for someone to sing on his demo’s. Singer Anna Libby came over to try out and Allen was instantly hooked. They began working together out of Higgins home studio on a regular schedule to record the new material. "I knew right away that voice was something special." said Allen, "She has the unique ability to sing anything and always make it her own, which inspired me to make our debut album." At that point, Allen and Anna recruited their good friend Bobby Keyes and his crack team of musicians to record what would soon be "Twenty One." They both realized how much they love the recording process while working with him. While recording they also realized they were putting the cart before the horse and had better get a band together. They played local events, coffee houses and open mics which lead to recruiting local musicians that completed the line-up for the live shows of Becoming August. In the spring of 2009 their debut album "Twenty One" was complete. The band continued to gig through summer of 2010 with an ever revolving cast of band members. Finally in the late summer of 2010 Anna came to Allen saying she wanted to write. It worked out good as the band was taking a break. They used that opportunity to co-write. This brought yet another discovery, the realization that there is a little magic in the words they put on paper together. This combination has also brought a new sound to Becoming August which is very evident in the new material they recorded at Jungle Studios in Cleveland with Producer Bryan Patrick. "Sunnyside Down " is the first song they wrote together and it is strong with driving guitars and rhythm.
